“Since Brightwood Music (http://brightwoodmusic.net/?page_id=2) has been supplying me with Doug Armitage’s phenomenally deep & unique sounding fiddles, I’ve been returning to more of a folk mindset. Plus, after the last month of final work on RIFTSKETCHES, I’m ready to sing again; my studio time is turning toward focus on PHOENIX ROAD the sister album to VISCERALINE that I’ve been working on since I laid those grim sessions down in Austin. This is the material I finished on the road in my first long tour with Seth Walker. It’s still an adventure in the shadowtree, but it’s a swift, wistfully hopeful climb. (Or at least it will be if I can keep the final arrangements from getting too heavy & sticky! Wish me luck and stay tuned!)”
So there it is. As plans are being drawn up, well, all we have to say for now is be ready for a full length holiday release from the mountain studio.
It’ll be just under two hours now until the download link for Solomon’s debut classical/experimental cello album Rift-sketches goes live!

After Grey Fiction left the Transmutation Tour, I’ve spent most of this February experimenting with new art in Oakland, CA. And one of the results is that my second record, Pterodactyl Paradigm is in the process of squirming and adventuring through web-wires to i-tunes right now. (Check out a bit of the artwork, featuring drawing by tattoo artist Jen Jacques of Portland, ME… [yeah, *that* Portland! Represent! I'm coming back to visit y'all in your castle on the hill by the sea soon.] But the artwork… we must make it on to the end of this parenthesis…
…) (phew, made it. Good job, Pony.)
In other news, the dark fantasy/horror epic written by Gabrielle Faust and I is stalking about in the great swamp of this world rounding up reviews that leave me humbled to have helped channel the story:
Also, Seth and I have finally completed the album that marks the first fruit of the central tree of our two-year collaboration. We’re celebrating its release in San Francisco this weekend at this show:
If you happen to be in the City this Saturday, meet me there!
All Love & Light,

In 2012, The Pillars, consisting of Solomon Schneider and Seth Walker, will continue to invite audiences along on the artistic and philosophical roller coaster ride they began exploring and building in 2011.
This year, however, they will be joining forces with up and coming Salt Lake City rock band Grey Fiction.
“Grey Fiction is blazing onto their scene with a brilliance that’s not quite like anything I’ve ever seen before. The handful of shows Seth and I have put on with them so far have been among the most spiritually intense I’ve ever been a part of. This 2012 tour is going to be a truly epic exploration of truly new territory.” ~Solomon
On account of the unprecedentedly intense intermixing of the spoken word and music scenes that these artists are attempting, there is every reason to believe that this may be one of those tours that people talk about years down the line. It will begin on January 29th in Santa Cruz, CA, and will span the whole breadth of the U.S. Stay tuned for dates.
My first roughly coherent collection of philosophy and poetry is now in circulation. I’m feeling pretty militantly lo-fi about it, for now, so if you want to read it you’ll have to find me Or just hit me up and I’ll probably mail you a copy out of love.
